This is my page containing trivial thoughts, views and peeves on topics ranging from current events to that numbskull that cut me off in traffic. I'm sure you've been wondering: "What's tickin' off Jean today?" or "I wonder how Jean feels about...?"

I really don't believe you are here to blindly adopt my view of the world as your own but rather out of morbid curiosity. However, it might not be a bad idea to get on the bandwagon early.

Here is a letter that I finally got off my butt and sent off. It details my terrible experience of buying a new van from Lamarque Dodge. I got sooo angry, I did something I never do...I wrote a letter to complain and vent my frustration.

One thing that really ticks me off to no end are people who blow....

all their grass clippings into the middle of the street. They may as well dump their garbage in the street because it's the same thing. It looks like crap!

These numbskulls blow their grass clippings into the street to be washed down the strorm drains. DUH!!!! Nothing like reducing the amount of water the pipes can carry, eh? At some point in the drainage system all this grass and dirt will constrict the pipes and cause the streets to flood sooner.

I have already begun my crusade against these litterbugs and ask that you do so as well! And if YOU blow your grass into the street...shame on you and STOP!!! Don't make me come over there.

I found a number to call to report these jerks but have misplaced it. When I find it, I will post it. Please report these peanutbutter heads.

The following is a humorous, edited reply by AJ to my "grass clippings post"... But as I pointed out to AJ...didn't the mind clippings he mailed to me further choke the Internet pipeline?? ;)

These numbskulls blow their mind clippings into the net to be washed down the backbone. DUH!!!! Nothing like reducing the amount of data the pipes can carry, eh? At some point in the backbone system all this will constrict the pipes and cause the net to transmit slower.

I have already begun my crusade against these litterbugs and ask that you do so as well! And if YOU blow your mind clippings into the net...shame on you and STOP!!! Don't make me come over there.

As every great writer knows - nothing like a bit of editing to really bring one's point into focus! grin

As easy as taking candy from a baby???

What childless person came up with this? Maybe if the baby is asleep!

But being a parent of three I think I can speak with some confidence in my assessment of the accuracy of this statement. It is a total fallacy.

The task seems easy enough. We have the size advantage, we have "mastered" the art of complex reasoning, logic. But you can not convince a baby to give you something they really really want. So we have to rely on our physical agility and shear size. After all, a baby's arms are what???... 6-8 inches long?? Barely bigger than the adult hand. But babies have an amazing move....the reversible figure eight. Seems simple enough, eh? Anticipate and grab! After trying and failing to snatch the object from the infant's hand in an embarrassing display of spastic motions and frustrated grunts the parent resorts to the only method that works consistently. The one arm bear hug. This takes the agile infant by surprise and while trying to think of a way out of this loving hug of parental frustration, the battle is won.

So, PLEASE...think twice before you use the misnomer... "As easy as taking candy from a baby."

Why do they do this EVERY YEAR!?!?!?!?

  News??

This isn't news...everyone who lives in NOLA knows this...yet every year the TP, WWL 4, WDSU 6....etc do a piece on what the effects of a direct hit will be.

It's pretty scary but it's overkill (no pun intended)...every year we have to hear there will be 20 feet of water for months....One escape route...mass destruction

Does the tourist commission and the NO Chamber of Commerce send these truly frightful reports out to potential summer visitors and/or future residents?? Do the Saints know this info...cause they may take Mississippi up on the move.

It's information every New Orleanian is well aware of! Why do the media find it necessary to put it out there EVERY YEAR!?

It's similar to another pet pieve of mine...every year we are told ....we a freeze is coming..."WRAP YOUR PIPES" Now I don't know about you but after the first time I wrapped my pipes...I didn't go out and tear it all off...my pipes stay wrapped...DUH!

Look at all the dust around here...do you think it's because I haven't had any thoughts?

Well I have but I keep forgetting to write them down. I'll try to do a better job because if I'm not going to keep this section active I might as well delete it.

Six year old organized sports has got to be the most intense sporting events around...so much heart displayed on the playing field, so much pure excitement and effort.

Marc just finished up football. He had a ball and the team made the championship...fell a tad short in triple over time but what an exciting game it was.

Last night was his first basketball game. The look on his face running up and down the field was a thing of beauty, a parental high. No I think it was more than that, much more than that. Anyone walking into that gym and watching that game would have had a smile on their face. Everyone there did!

The enthusiasim and determination exhibited was inspiring. I felt like going out and playing myself. It was more than that...it was hilarious as well. The growing pains of coordination is slapstick at its finest.
