What was that??

OUCH!! What a terrible ending....another terrible ending. Not much to say here....it's been a couple of months and the heartbreak and disappointment has faded to a dull throbbing ache in the chest area. ;)

Oh well....we'll get 'em next year?

Onward to the draft...and an offseason of moves....losses and pickups that are sure to surprise...or at least entertain me until Sept '03.

Also a whole offseason and camp of "Brooks shoulder" watching.....egads!! It's crucial he return 100%....my mantra of '02 is still so true, as Brooks goes so goes the Saints. But given the questions regarding his recovery and season long heath...we gotta have a good #2. Keeping Jake would be nice but he may get some offers as a starter somewhere ....he said he wouldn't leave unless it's to start...depends on the number of available QBs with actual starting experience, I reckon'.

Draft time is around the corner and the Saints have a bucket full in the early rounds.....time to see what a Muleless Saints can do in FA and draft time.

Time will tell.......

Well I was gonna just let this site fade away.....maybe posting pictures on occasion but as the season opener nears I can't help but jot down a few thoughts, throwing them out here into virtual bottomless hole of the internet.

A QUICK BITCH: It amazes me that some so called fans feel the need to cry, bitch and moan EVERY YEAR....EVERY WEEK....no matter what. It's apparent their existence is dependent upon the negativity their thoughts and misguided/misinformed opinions generate. It's apparent they find happiness not in being a Saints fan and pulling for the Saints to go all the way but rather in stomping their feet like children....pointing fingers and laying blame for events that haven't happened but they are "certain" will. Sounds like fun doesn't it? They get enjoyment not from cheering the Saints on and looking at each game postively...noooooo...they'd rather dwell on each and every negative possible outcome....all worse case scenarios. It's never hope for the best and let time tell the tale. It's truly amusing that some "knowledgable fans" can't see the current regime is making huge strides towards the ultimate reward....more than any group before. These "enlighted fortune tellers" foresee failure and doom....LMAO! What a terrible existence as a fan...what a terrible way to be in life...what a pathetic Saints fan. Think you're a loser...guess what you become? The season hasn't started and already the Saints are picking #1 in 2004....what a bunch or maroons. ENJOY THE SEASON! LOL Me....win or lose I'll enjoy being a Saints fan....course winning is much better but hey it's only a freaking game!

I think the Saints did pretty darn good this off season...on the verge of excellent. I would have liked to see someone else added in the middle of the D but I think the additions will be just enough of a change, on and off the field, to make a big difference. The loose of Mel Mitchell hurts and we need to sign someone to help/backup. It's gonna take some time before the "gel" as a group and I expect to see some mistakes early in the season.... 3-5 weeks into the D will be surging and will make some noise....punishing bone breaking noises that a good hit on the QB will generate....that an some INTs. The addition of Rodgers and Ruff...the slide of Darren Smith to MLB.....Grady coming in hungry, not for chicken wings but retribution....Howard and Grant coming into their own...TBuck adding the speed needed. The D will be improved...NO DOUBT ABOUT IT! It surely can't be worse than last years. ;)

The key to success is the health of Deuce.....STAY HEALTHY ALL YEAR and the Saints go FAR in the playoffs...NO DOUBT ABOUT IT! I would have liked to see a RB drafted this year...3rd--4th round but no biggie. I believe the Saints will resign Carter on Monday after the game...like 12:01AM Monday. Or Edwards....but a backup for Deuce is CRUCIAL!!! I have faith Loomis & Co will do us right!

Brooks has to regain his early/mid season form. He looks to be recovered from his surgery and as long as he doesn't back pedal his way out of the pocket and forgets about his nasty back foot...all will be right and he'll be top 5...not only in his mind but in reality! Love them WRs....can't say anything bad........EXCEPT, wtf is up with Donté and his hammy? I thought he was doing an offseason stretching/yoga thing to solve this. DAMN....STAY LOOSE DONTE! The addition of Conwell is gonna do wonders for the O. I really loved what I saw from rook Zack Hilton in the preseason. I'd like to see him get in there some this year...I think he was a steal this year.

So....with all these off season factors added up, what's in store for the Saintly bunch in the opener?

Silly rabbit......a win of course!

Probably gonna be a high scoring affair. Hassleback, Alexander and Co were hot at the close of last year and I expect them to still be a potent O. Our D will shake them up just enough and our O will put up their points just like last year. Both teams are banged up a tad although Howard and Grant are suppose to play. The Seahawks are missing some key players but more importantly the Saints have a statement to make to the NFL....GET READY FOR AN ASS WHOOPIN'!

SAINTS WIN!!!!

Well....that SUCKED!

The Saints looked pretty disorganized and unfocused. How disappointing. The D showed signs of being no different than last year while also showing some glimpses of good things to come: run stuffing, QB pressure/sacking. Not unexpected, I look for the D to come along and we'll see what's what by week 5. Although losing Darren Howrad to a dislocated wrist for 8-10 weeks hurts...no only Howard...but the Saints D. Time for Willie Whitehead to kick it up a notch! BAM! We need the heat on the outside Willie....bring it.

Brooks looked totally unimpressive and I'm concerned about him. I'm seeing things that should have been corrected....back pedalling and throwing the ball up for grabs, failing to make the reads or progress through them....I pray he'll shine and shake the rust off and get into the grove. If his bad habbits continue, the Saints are in trouble and AB is not the answer at QB.

Deuce ran well. Horn played through a pregame freak knee injury and looked good. Although Donté dropped some balls he caught most and made some good runs after the catch. We saw some action at the TE position and I LOVED seeing that....let's hope it continues and gets even MORE active.

It difficult if not impossible to overcome 4 turnovers especially with the Saints D trying to find their groove. The opening loss stung but it's far from the end of the world. Other than the bad things that happened in the 2nd Quarter the Saints looked ok. The game was lost in the turnovers and untimely penalties(11!!). If not for those two things the Saints could have very easily won. But great teams overcome bad things...the Saints aren't great...yet. But I wanna believe they can tighten up the slopiness get pissed and mean and kick some ass. They will! It's only the first week and I still feel good about an 11-5 (or better)record for the year!

Given the Saints preformance the last two years....I'd rather START 1-3 and FINISH 9-2... than have another December collapse!

Onward and upward....time to put this game behind us, learn from it, get mean, mad and move on. Texans are up next and they stunned the dolphins at home.....they will not fare as well this week. The Dome will be arockin'!!

Saints vs Texans

It's up to the Saints to move on ...and the movin' starts Sunday. Time to put the dropped balls, missed tackles, penalties and fumbles behind them. The texans are coming to the Dome riding high after beating the Dolphins in the Dolphins home opener. Can the texans spoil TWO home openers? Or will they be riding high .....TOO HIGH? Will they settle back to earth this week in the Dome? Yes...with a loud THUD!

The Saints should come out fired up and the Saints will kick the texans rear. A quick aside, I hope the drunken idiots in the stands don't turn to booing at the first sign of trouble...that would truly be moronic. How farking stoopid is that? They have a right you say? Maybe but it surely isn't the way to be the 12th man...it's not going to help. And someone mentioned paper bags for heads....please sit in front of me! And if you smell smoke RUN do not walk to the bathroom and stick your head in the toilet because your bag has be set aflame.

Back to Saintly things......

There may be a bump in the road...maybe two...but the Saints O will get on track, eliminating the penalties and turnovers that ultimately cost them the game in Seattle. The Saints D continues to gel and solidify...stuffin the run and slappin the snot outta all wearing the blue and red of the texans.

Brooks and Deuce and Horn and Donté and Conwell and Pathon and Boo and Lewis and....you get the idea. Too much for the rising texan D to handle! Waaaay too much.

The texans have an excellent QB in Carr, I like him. They have three solid WRs and the addition of LSU's own Dominic Davis added some ummpff to the backfield. The Saints will have their hands full but the D is coming along and will bend but not break.

SAINTS WIN!!!

Now that was fun.

The first half was slow and a little frightening actually....I had flash backs. I thought we would never get going. But the Saints came out fired up! The D brought the heat and the O started moving. Good signs and I think they'll continue. Horn played tough with a tender knee and Deuce kept pounding. He got an early TD but was really quit until the Texan D got tired in the second half. Then the yards came in bigger chunks. The D played inspired and continued looking tough against the run. I love it! I love a good run stuffing D. And with the opposing teams facing longer 3rd down conversions...the line got 5 sacks. I'm in DefensiveHeaven!

Unfortunately the D lost a couple of more starters for an extended period, Carter and Hodge, and got another nicked up pretty good, Sullivan. That hurts but it only means the replacements need to step in and play to their highest level. Sometimes adversity will bring on the best in folks....I'm hoping the Saints players rise to the challenge like in 2000 when starters were dropping like flies. Willie Whitehead did it this week starting in place of Howard....GREAT JOB WILLIE!! Fred Thomas, Roger Knight, Kenny Smith, Fahkir Brown, Henry Ford....all good players all are going to see more playing time due to injuries. Rise to the occasion and kick some ass! The Saints also signed Victor Green this week to help out in the secondary since Mel Mitchell is basically out all year and the scraps and bruises mount. Good addition.

On to the Titans this week. The got their asses kicked by the Colts in Indy so they're gonna be looking for redemption at home. Time for the Saints to start that road winning streak!

Saints vs Titans

This is gonna be one tough game! A hard hitting snot jarring ruckus. GOOD!

The titans are a very good team and they are even tougher at home? So how on earth can the Saints win? Do they even stand a chance??

Of course they do. In fact if the Saints can establish a little running game...and I think they can and the fact that the titans #1 DT is out with an injury makes that even easier. Deuce is one tough cookie....he can hit it up the gut or around the end....look for him to have a killa day! When the Saints do try to pass, the titans have two most excellent DEs, Kearse and Carter(I think it's Carter). But the Saints will be up to the task and the run will slow the pass rush down enough to open up Horn and Donte on the quick slants.....Conwell down the seam....and Pathon in the corner of the endzone!

McNair's banged up a bit but does that really matter? It seems every tear McNair is hurt and he only gets better. But these are "fresh" and the Saints found a pass rush, so look for the heat on Steve and his fat swollen ring finger on his throwing hand to help the Saints pull in two INTs!! wooooowhoooo!! I think George will rack up a few yards but not enough to be effective and not enough to stop the blitz on 3rd and long.

SAINTS WIN!!!!

Saints 12  Titans 27

The game is won and loss in the trenches...and that's exactly where this one was lost by the Saints. No time for Brooks, no holes for Deuce. The defense kept the Saints in the game....early, but they could only hold so long without the O producing. Again it came down to the trenches. Horn had a couple of dropped balls....uncharacteristic but costly none the less. Brooks seemed zoned in on one receiver when another was WIDE OPEN...that happen on more than a few occasions.

If the OLine continues to play weak, the Saints are in for a tough year and the fans.... another painful season.

However, the Titans are a good team...a good D...and that must be considered. I figured it would take awhile to gel this year, so we on the road and there's been a couple of bumps but the trip is FAR from over. I still think the Saints can get it going on D. I think the run D has been great...well heads and shoulders above last year. So that's a good think for sure. Once Howard and Carter get back....we'll be alright. The OLine has to get there shit together because they, imo, to date have been the weakest link. I think they'll get the groove because they really haven't played together as a unit much this year...so I'm hoping we're looking at a gel issue there as well. A good thing this is a 16 game schedule...time AND ROOM for improvement.

Time will tell!

One more thing....wtf is up with Tebuckey getting in a shouting match with Haz. This guy's looking to be more of a bad thing than a good. DO YOUR JOB, LIVE UP TO THE HYPE AND STFU!

The fantastic LSU Tigers win over the Georgia Bulldogs eases the sting of this loss.....somewhat. Now it's on to the Colts on Sunday night....GOTTA HAVE IT!!! 2-2 is livable, 1-3 ...OUCH...don't want to think about it. IT'S NOT GONNA HAPPEN!!

GO SAINTS!!

Quickie preview this week......

The Saints come out FIRED UP...the 12th man fuels the fire that burns. The O will get on track like it is capable of and the D will do enough...stopping the Edge and getting to Archie Jr, just enough.

DISGUSTING and EMBARASSING!! First time I ever left a Saints game in the 3rd... PATHETIC DISPLAY of "FOOTBALL".

But it's time to move on and put that behind us. The Saints face the panthers this week. Awesome D and Delhomie has sparked a questionable O.

Can the Saints win? LOL...with the way they've been playing the answer is obvious. But I'll buck the majority and since I NEVER predict a loss.

The Saints overcome the massive injuries on D and the retooled OLine makes some holes.....

SAINTS WIN!!
